Past Pupils’ Association, St. Bridget’s Convent

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

It is with a great sense of humility, that I accept this high office of the President of the Past Pupils’ Association of this prestigious School, St. Bridget’s Convent, for the term 2021/2022.

I consider it a great honour, and I am deeply grateful to Rev. Sr. Rohini Mendis, our Patroness, and this august Association, for electing me.

I do realize the great sense of responsibility that has been bestowed on me. I, on my part, will strive to my utmost, to uphold this high office, with respect, dignity, pride and commitment. I promise to honour the highest standards and traditions, left behind, by our predecessors. At this juncture, I would be failing in my duty, if I do not make, honourable mention, of all stalwarts, who led to the inauguration of our Association, on the 21st of November 1921, and, of all our Past Presidents, that made it progress. We have to congratulate ourselves as we will be reaching the milestone of a 100 years, on the 21st of November 2021.

Whilst congratulating my committee on being elected, we, in keeping with our motto, ‘By our deeds we shall be known’, hope to foster fellowship, and establish a bond of unity, and respect, amongst our members. We will also strive to encourage, a spirit of loyalty and service towards our Alma Mater.

We hope to participate, in humility and with a sense of dedication, in the religious, educational, cultural, recreational and social activities, of our own dear school.

We will assist Rev. Sr. Superior in projects, towards the advancement and welfare of the school and the present pupils, and in the social service projects.

We have lived through a year, with the Covid19 pandemic. At this juncture, let us remember the departed and express our true appreciation to all Health workers and to the tri-forces, who were involved with the care of the sick and their management. Let us hope, that, with the grace of God, the situation will improve in the near future.

We are where we are today, because of our Alma Mater. As such, the time is indeed right, to pay homage to our beloved school. In society, we are respected because of our upbringing and we must therefore continue, to imbibe high values among our students too.

My dear members, let us all join hands, gently and firmly, to achieve our goal in perfect unity, in the true spirit of the school,

May God bless our association! Thank you.

Yours sincerely
Dr. Swinitha Ranasinghe
President 2021/2022
